Hi players,

Over the next several week we will be posting practice neurons to help you get more comfortable with creating axon traces. These neurons are ones in which scientists have already given feedback and results. You can look over these results to see where the axon was located. These practice sets will not have consensus run immediately so scoring on them will be alot slower. Thank you for all your contributions!

The first of these sets is Practice-V1-05.

The original neuron is here.

Hi players, we will be performing some application and server updates tomorrow morning at around 7am PDT. During this time, the application may be unresponsive, however this should only last for around 5 to 10 minutes. A changelog will be provided once the updates have been released.

UPDATED

As part of the updates we have introduced a new tool to help in the creation of reconstructions that will be more useful for our partners at AIBS. There is now a toggle to switch between whether you want to create a trace as an axon or as a dendrite. This will introduce a new layer of complexity and challenge so be sure to read up on how to tell the difference.

Also read up on how the colors have changed here.

Hi players, the website and application will be down very briefly on 9/20 at 7am PDT while updates and bugfixes are released. Apologies for the inconvience. Details about the specific updates will be posted here shortly.

UPDATE: Here are the changes that were part of the update:

Ability to change the depth of the viewable volume. Use shift+mouse wheel to change the size and alt+mouse wheel to change the position of the volume. This can be used to make virtual finger more accurate as it will hide traces not part of the volume and decrease the search space so it captures less noise.

Starting at disconnected view at the start has been disabled while problems with consensus and how it is combining reconstructions are being resolved.

Ability for scientists to create non-box shaped comments. Hopefully this will allow them to draw tighter fitting comment areas which will make it easier to find the neuron branches.

Bug fixes to scoring, node coloring, z-clipping of nodes

We experienced a website outage this morning. The downtime and any lack of responsiveness in the past approximately 18 hours are likely due to an issue with our production database. This issue has been mitigated and we are working on a permanent fix to ensure the issue doesn’t arise again. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience and contributions, as always.
